About Us

Who are we

The Clay Warehouse was founded in 2021 by Courtney Brewer and Scott Pierce, two strangers that shared a passion for pottery. Our Mission is to foster a studio and retail supply space that supports and encourages collaboration among artists to advance their craft, develop new techniques, and guide them as they build their businesses and engage the community to support and participate in creative arts. In addition, we serve the ceramics and pottery community with the best products and knowledge in the hope of inspiring people everywhere.

The Clay Warehouse comes equipped with six wheels and two kilns. We offer classes, workshops, studio drop-in, and public firings. We also have a retail space that stocks the highest quality of supplies and glazes from the top brands in North America. Our main clay line is from Georgie's Clay; they have been making clay for decades and are well known and respected in the potter's community. They also manufacture their glazes in house that are beautiful not only to work with but to fire.

How it Started

In Mid 2021 Courtney was working at Totally Ceramics, a pottery supply store based in Surrey. Totally Ceramics was shutting down as the owner wanted to retire, and she would soon be left without a job. With high hopes and a business degree in hand, she has the idea of starting her own pottery supply store with the connections she made at TC. As this thought was bouncing around in her head, she met someone new, someone, that would change the course of her life. That person was Scott Pierce. Scott and Courtney instantly hit it off and quickly knew that there was a big gap in the market with the closure of TC. Courtney shared her idea of opening a pottery supply store with Scott. He was quick to tell her about his knowledge and expertise in opening and operating businesses. He shared that he is looking to find a way to further his passion for Ceramics and Pottery.

The obvious choice was made, and that's how it all started. We currently own and operate a fully equipped studio with six wheels and two kilns and have an extensive list of distributors that allow us to offer a wide range of products to theMetro Vancouver area, Fraser Valley, and West Canada.

Courtney Brewer

Courtney Brewer is a UNBC graduate with a degree in Commerce with a double major in International Business and Human Resource Management. Not that that means anything, but we should at least mention her degree to feel like it was worth getting. Courtney jumped around from office to office, trying to find her drive to pursue a career in business, but it just was not happening. Finally, she got so bored of her life her partner suggested she take a pottery class to shake things up. As soon as she touched a ball of clay, and she was instantly addicted. Class after class, her love for pottery grew. She quit her corporate job to pursue a career in pottery. She took a job at Totally Ceramics as a jumping point in her career to make the necessary connections to find growth. Bonnie, the manager at TC, took her under her wing and showed her what it is like to live a life surrounded by clay. After that, the rest is history!
