Workshop Duration: One Time Workshop (3 hours in length)

Workshop Description:

In this one-day workshop Celina, The Colour Queen, will take you on a colourful clay journey teaching you the basics of working with Mason Stains. In this class you will learn how to use the Nerikomi technique.

Nerikomi is a decorative process established in Japan that involves stacking coloured clay and then slicing through the cross section to reveal a pattern, which can then be used as an applied decoration. Students will also be taught how to hand-build a mug that incorporates their Nerikomi pattern. Students will also be taught how to work with mason stains safely and how to test different Mason Stain for desired colours.

This course is 3 hours long and requires basic clay experience. All materials and tools will be provided. All pieces that are made in this workshop will be dried slowly and bisque fired at The Clay Warehouse. Students will be responsible for finishing their pieces (pieces can be glazed fired at The Clay Warehouse for no extra charge via a free Open Studio session).
