Want to continue your clay journey? If you've taken a beginner's workshop or have basic clay experience, and you're looking to brush up on your throwing skills, check this one out! The Clay Warehouse 102 Beginners-Continued Wheel Throwing workshop is for those who have taken a beginner's class with us or an equivalent elsewhere. You know the basics like centering and pulling a wall, but you want to practice these skills and start creating different forms.
Jumping from a beginner's class straight into an intermediate one can sometimes be intimidating. While in the 101 beginners' class, considerable time is spent learning to center and getting more used to throwing on the wheel. In this class, we'll move on to different forms that will challenge your newfound skills.
We'll work towards consistent throwing, pulling consistent cylinders, and adding more techniques to help you on your journey. Perhaps you didn't get to make that set of four mugs you wanted or more consistent larger bowls. Now that you have the basic skills from a beginner's class, let's take it to the next level! Projects will be based on students' desired pieces, including handled mugs, lidded containers, pitchers, and whatever else you have your heart set on.
This class will prepare you for our intermediate workshop. It will not only help you further refine essential skills, but it will also help you avoid many of the common pitfalls that beginner students face when developing their craft. As a result, you will leave this class with a deeper understanding of wheel throwing, gaining more confidence in your throwing abilities!
Students who enroll in this class will have access to our online booking system to book a drop-in studio session. Booking open studio time during or after your class is a great way to build on the skills learned in class!
