Silica (Flint) (200 Mesh) - Various Sizes

Silica (Flint) 200 Mesh is a purified version of this much used material of glaze and claybody formulation. In clay and glazes, Flint provides the melting, or glassifying agents in a claybody that allow the material to fuse together. Flint is used for hardness in glazes, and decreases thermal expansion. In claybodies, the expansion factor is exactly the opposite -- an increased presence of silica increases the thermal expansion.
