Date & Time: Friday, December 18 from 5:30 - 8:00 PM
Workshop Description:
In this workshop, Wes will teach you the basics behind using the sgraffito technique!
Students will work on leather hard tiles to play with surface decoration by scratching away the painted on slip to expose the clay body underneath. Wes will provide leather hard tiles, but feel free to bring your own piece(s) to practice on with your new sgraffito skills! Make sure the pieces you bring are painted with either an underglaze or slip in the areas you wish to sgraffito. Wes will also provide a sgraffito scratching tool hand made by them for each student to use during the workshop and take away with them for use after the workshop.
This workshop is meant to teach you the basic skills required to use the sgraffito technique and nothing new will be created and fired. Leather hard tiles and scratching tools will be provided. Practice tiles can be taken home by students if desired. Students are welcome to bring a leather hard piece or two to practice on in class. Again, nothing additional will be made or fired in this workshop, this is a skill building workshop.
