Workshop Duration: One workshop that takes place over two days (2.5 hours in length each)
Dates/Times: Monday, May 25th and Tuesday, May 26th from 5:30PM - 8:00PM
Workshop Description:
Join Brooke for a sweet evening creating your very own strawberry vase!
In this workshop, you will learn how to use coils to create an organic strawberry shape. You will also learn surface decorating techniques using underglaze. Students will combine slabs and coils to bring their strawberries to life. You will explore some of the fundamental principles of hand building pottery that you can apply to many other projects in the future.
On the first day of the workshop, you will focus on creating your coil built strawberry so that on day two, after it has had 24 hours to dry, you can decorate your vase using underglaze. Day two will begin with a lesson on the different ways to use and apply underglaze to add character and colour to your hand-built creations. You will then have the opportunity to underglaze your strawberries.
Once the workshop is completed, your pieces will be bisque-fired. Brooke will apply a clear glaze to your vase, and they will be fired for the final time. It can take up to three weeks for students’ pieces to be fired and completed. Once pieces are finished, an email will be sent out to all students notifying them that their pieces are ready for pick up.

About the Instructor:
Brooke (she/her) fell in love with clay in 2019 and has never looked back. Having been an artist her whole life, she applied her love of painting to the surface of clay. Brooke believes wholeheartedly in having fun while creating, throwing the rules and precision out the window. These days, she can be found collecting sticks on forest walks, talking about her adorable, fluffy cat Georgie, or teaching a class while covered in clay. Brooke is also a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor working in her private practice.
