Workshop Duration: One day workshop (2.5 hours)
Dates/Times: Wednesday, July 22 from 5:30 - 8:00 PM
Workshop Description:
Join Liz for a hands-on workshop creating your very own nature-inspired paint palette!
In this workshop, students of all levels will enjoy a fun day of hand building focused on creating ceramic paint palettes inspired by nature. Liz will guide you through the process of rolling out slabs, creating and attaching small pinch pots, and carving wood like textures. You will then decorate your piece with sculpted elements and underglaze to bring your design to life. Examples of different nature-inspired styles will be provided to help inspire your creativity.
Once the workshop is completed, students’ pieces will be bisque-fired. A clear glaze will then be applied to make the pieces functional before they are fired for the final time. It can take up to 3 weeks for pieces to be completed. Once finished, an email will be sent out notifying students that their work is ready for pick up.
Workshop Description Breakdown:
Technique: Hand building using slabs and coils (NO POTTERY WHEEL USED)
Tools and equipment: Basic hand building tools, table work, paint brushes, underglaze
Project: Make a nature themed functional paint pallet
Time until your art piece is ready for pick up: 3-weeks (email will be sent out when your piece is ready to pick up)
About the Instructor:
Liz (she/her) has always been a craft dabbler, but found clay during a time of grief, where it became a source of healing, expression, and community. In 2025, she founded Emerging Oak Creative to share her work more widely. Inspired by textures found in nature, Liz creates pieces that draw from bark, stone, and forest floors, and has recently begun making small forestscapes that invite quiet reflection and connection.
