Workshop Description:
Join Liz for a fun day of hand building that focuses on creating a unique tree stump!
In this workshop, you will learn how to create a tree stump tea light holder or vase! Students will use a slab technique to construct the base of your vessel, then use various techniques to create texture to mimic the look of tree bark. From there, you will have the opportunity to add on branches, moss, mushrooms, and anything else you can think to transform your stump into one that is uniquely yours! This workshop is perfect for those at all levels of clay experience, beginners are welcome! Vessels can be up to 6" in height.
Once the workshop is completed, it can take up to three weeks for students pieces to be fired and completed. Once pieces are finished, an email will be sent out to all students notifying them that their pieces are ready for pick up.Â
About the Instructor:Â
Liz (she/her) has always been a craft dabbler, but found clay during a time of grief, where it became a source of healing, expression, and community. In 2025, she founded Emerging Oak Creative to share her work more widely. Inspired by textures found in nature, Liz creates pieces that draw from bark, stone, and forest floors, and has recently begun making small forestscapes that invite quiet reflection and connection.
