An innovative new generation of pottery bats designed to combine the moisture management benefits of traditional Hydro Bats with the strength, durability, and lightweight feel modern studios demand.

Developed by Xiem Tools, Smart Bats are made from a proprietary composite material engineered specifically for ceramic use. Designed to absorb and release moisture evenly, they help promote more consistent drying from both the top and bottom of your work, reducing warping and supporting cleaner releases during throwing and drying. 

Unlike traditional plaster or Hydro Bats, Smart Bats are significantly lighter in weight while being up to five times stronger, making them easier to handle and far more resistant to cracking, swelling, chipping, or splintering over time. Their durable composite construction is built to withstand the rigours of daily studio use while remaining stable and reliable through repeated wet and dry cycles. 

Each bat features three engraved concentric guide rings for quick centering and trimming reference, making them equally useful for both beginners and production potters alike.

Available individually or in convenient 4-packs, Smart Bats are offered in both 12" and 14" sizes to suit a wide range of wheel throwing needs.
