Workshop Duration: Two one-day workshop (2.5 hours in length)

Workshop Description:

Join us for a fun and creative slab built mug workshop, where you’ll get hands-on experience crafting your very own slab-built mug from start to finish. Perfect for beginners and those with some pottery experience, this 2.5-hour class will introduce you to the basics of working with clay slabs—rolling, cutting, and joining them to create a unique mug. You'll also learn how to add a handle and experiment with textures and decorations to make your mug truly one-of-a-kind.

About the Instructor:

Kathy grew up in Sydney, Australia where she graduated with a BA Design at UTS. She has worked in interior and furniture design, with continuing studies in photography, print making, silversmithing and ceramics.

Kathy moved to Vancouver, Canada in 2016 and began working with ceramics in 2019, when she established STUDIO EIGHTEEN. Her inspiration is drawn from architecture, from the shapes, shadows and contrast that these built spaces create. Her work is minimal, with the construction of material & form being the
fundamental focus.

Asymmetric designs and contrasting finishes are a feature of her jewellery collection, often leaving a section of raw ceramic exposed. Each piece is handmade with precision in small batches, at her home studio.

Creativity is at the core of every project Kathy embarks on.
