Workshop Duration: One time workshop (2.5 hours in length)

Dates/Times: Thursday, May 28th from 5:30PM - 8:00PM

Workshop Description:

Join Brooke for a magical evening creating your very own wall altar.

In this workshop, you will learn how to apply slab techniques to create an altar that you can hang on your wall. Additionally, you will explore different ways to add textures to the surface of your altar. This is how your piece truly becomes your own and expresses what the altar signifies to you. Your altars will be up to 8” tall and 6” wide.

Before leaving at the end of the workshop, you will choose from the various colours of studio glaze available. Once your piece has dried and been bisque-fired, Brooke will apply the glaze to your piece. After it has been glaze-fired, you will receive an email notifying you that your piece is ready for pick up. It can take up to 3 weeks for students' pieces to be fired and completed.

Workshop Description Breakdown:

Technique: Hand building using coils and slabs (NO POTTERY WHEEL USED).

Tools and equipment: Basic hand building tools, table work, paint brushes, glaze.

Workshop Project: Create a wall alter that can be either hung or placed.

Time until your art piece is ready for pick up: 3-weeks (email will be sent out when your piece is ready to pick up)

About the Instructor:

Brooke (she/her) fell in love with clay in 2019 and has never looked back. Having been an artist her whole life, she applied her love of painting to the surface of clay. Brooke believes wholeheartedly in having fun while creating, throwing the rules and precision out the window. These days, she can be found collecting sticks on forest walks, talking about her adorable, fluffy cat Georgie, or teaching a class while covered in clay. Brooke is also a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor working in her private practice.
