Monday, September 29th to October 6th from 5:30pm - 8:00 pm.
What’s involved:
In our Thrown Altered Forms workshop, we’ll explore a creative twist on traditional wheel throwing. Instead of making a finished form right on the wheel, you’ll learn how to throw pieces without bottoms, giving you the freedom to alter their shape while they’re still soft and responsive. Once you’ve transformed the walls into something uniquely yours, you’ll attach a slab base to complete the form.
This hands-on process opens up a whole world of possibilities, from gentle curves and organic shapes to sharper, more architectural lines. Over the course of the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to create one small and one medium-sized piece—perfect for experimenting with scale and design. Whether you imagine making a sleek flask, a graceful vase, a sculptural vessel, or even a wide, functional bowl, you’ll be guided step-by-step so you can bring your vision to life.
By the end of the class, you’ll leave with two altered forms that reflect your personal style and show off a skillset that goes beyond standard wheel throwing. This is a chance to loosen up, play with form, and see just how far you can push your clay.
About the Instructor:
Courtney Paige, co-owner of The Clay Warehouse, creates work that balances the natural movement of clay with intentional structure. Her forms emerge from an intuitive dialogue between fluid throwing gestures and precise refinement, resulting in pieces that feel both organic and thoughtfully composed. Guided by the clay’s inherent softness and energy, she crafts shapes that carry a quiet strength and a sense of motion.
What’s included: All materials for this class are included. Once the class is over, your work will be bisque fired in our kiln. Please allow up to three weeks for your piece to be ready for pick up. Once the pieces are bisqued, you will be notified via email.
